This year is the fourth year that I have produced a Remembrance Day geocoin. This year's coin commemorates the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy. The 3rd Canadian Division landed at Juno Beach, led by the 7th Brigade, 8th Brigade, 6th Armoured Regiment and 10th Armoured Regiment. In total 14,000 Canadian soldiers established a beachhead which marked the beginning of the liberation of Europe.
Each coin contains a few grams of sand from Juno Beach, France.
It was collected by the geocacher Arnodraig of les Géocacheurs Normands at Courseulles-sur-mer on August 28, 2014.
Size: 50mm square x 3.5mm
Features: multiple layers, translucent enamel, 3d design, cutout containing sand from Juno Beach, France
